I developed a passion for Varina's ability to tell a story. I loved Jaded, I devoured Justified, and I longed for Jilted...sort of longed actually. Varina is so skilled at crafting her characters that I forget her people aren't real, and I really had no love for Lynda. I know women like her.

But then I began to read Jilted, and something amazing happened. I saw life through Lynda's eyes, I wept for her and with her, I laughed and celebrated with her. I even prayed for her (remember, she's not real).

Good fiction entertains. Great fiction changes lives. Excellent fiction inspires, and changes the world one reader at a time. Varina Denman's stories do all three, which, in my opinion, makes Jilted (and its two older sisters) must read fiction.

You just have to take a peek at the first pages, and you'll fall in love with Varina's books, too. Highly recommended.

Jaded and Justified stories let me know that I was not alone in that I could identify with the characters. Varina certainly makes them real so much so that when I opened my gift of Jilted I realized that I had missed them especially Lynda. I knew that I was finally going to get to know the lady that I identified with the most. If you've ever been shocked by people's behavior this series will help you realize that you are not the only one.
This is the third book in the Mended Hearts series and like the ones before it, is touched with heart and wisdom. I enjoyed learning more about the characters whose lives were intertwined and torn apart when they were still teens. Anyone who has grown up in a small town will recognize the way news (gossip) travels, the Dairy Queen, and the characters who populate this book. Varina Denman is an excellent author and I can't wait for her next offering.
I loved this series!! The first two in the series were great, So I knew that I wanted to read Jilted, and lo and behold, Varina Denman wins again! I have a special place in my heart for West Texas, too... spending 10 years there after college and marrying a farm boy. She got it right, and it was such a joy to go along for the ride. I have to admit that reading about Ruthie (Jaded) and Fawn (Justified) were so good that I wasn't overly excited about reading about Lynda. She drove me nuts in the first two with her avoiding ways, but I grew to love her and especially Clyde. I guess you're not supposed to write spoilers in a review??? The epilogue had me smiling all the way through. Especially how Clyde defended Neil and determined to look out for Susan. That reminds me of the parables of Jesus - it is so inspiring to read about someone who really takes forgiveness seriously and LIVES it, instead of just saying it. I forget these people are fictional! Loved it all, and can't wait for Varina to write more!!

I first discovered Varina Denman's work on a random kindle search for something like "Texas fiction"....and I have now discovered one of my favorite authors. I was searching for a book to get lost in on a plane flight so that I would not be so nervous, and found that and so much more in the town of Trapp, Texas. Jaded was my first introduction and I devoured it and quickly downloaded Justified as soon as I could. Thankfully, I discovered these books only a few weeks before Jilted released, so I didn't have to wait very long to read more.

The setting of Jilted is the ficticious Texas town of Trapp. It doesn't take long into any one of the 3 books to be drawn in and feel like you are a part of the little community of Trapp. The characters are so well-developed too, that in no time you feel like they are your family members and you are wanting to know more and more what is going on in their world.

In Jilted, we get to know Lynda Turner and her story as well as some of the other history of what has happened in Trapp through the years. Lynda is real, and the story is told with such honesty. I love Christian fiction, but there are times when it can seem contrived and a little cheesy, but that is NOT the case in Jilted. The struggles are real as is the pain, which makes the joy that is found that much sweeter.

I highly recommend all of the Mended Hearts books written by Varina Denman. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

What a fantastic series this has been! If you have not started this series yet, you should! Begin with Book 1 and you will be hooked. Each Book in the series builds upon the previous novel. I loved seeing the characters develop more fully and stories come full circle. As well, as the lives changed and Denman guiding us through all the grit of life with imperfect people, and grace that is sufficient.

I do not like to give too much away, so no spoilers here. Just a big dose of encouragement to give this series at chance. Book 3, the final book in the series ties everything together and brings us to a satisfying end.

I am eager to see what Denman has in store for us next!
I continue to be amazed (more than that, blown away might fit) by Varina Denman's talent. I've now read all the books in this Mended Hearts series and would have to say this one is her finest.

I can't think of anything that describes Varina Denman's writing gift more aptly.
The settings, characters, dialogue, and conflict feel completely real--painfully real at times.
She is brave (and fresh and unique) with her subject matter and her characterizations I'm still shaking my head and smiling (and okay, sighing) over the leading man in Jilted--ex-con, town pariah, and Dairy Queen cook. Seriously, and what a hero he was! Varina Denman is a must-read author and I can't wait for her next novel.
